Vance Bedford: From Michigan Wolverines to Texas Longhorns

Former Michigan Wolverines Defensive Coordinator Vance Bedford Joins Texas Longhorns

Vance Bedford, the former defensive coordinator for the University of Michigan Wolverines football team, has joined the coaching staff of the University of Texas Longhorns football team. Bedford spent the past four seasons in Ann Arbor, where he helped lead the Wolverines to a pair of Big Ten championships and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2021.

Before joining Michigan, Bedford spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator at the University of Memphis. He also has experience as an assistant coach at the University of Louisville, the University of Nebraska, and the University of Illinois.

Bedford Brings Wealth of Experience to Texas

Bedford is a highly respected defensive coach with a proven track record of success. He has a reputation for developing talented players and implementing innovative defensive schemes.

In his four seasons at Michigan, Bedford's defenses ranked among the top 25 in the country in scoring defense, total defense, and pass defense. He also helped develop several NFL draft picks, including cornerback Jourdan Lewis, linebacker Devin Bush, and defensive end Rashan Gary.

Bedford's addition to the Texas coaching staff is a significant boost for the Longhorns. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to a defense that has struggled in recent years.

Longhorns Hope Bedford Can Turn Around Defense

The Texas Longhorns have high hopes for Bedford to turn around their defense. The Longhorns have finished in the bottom half of the Big 12 in total defense in each of the past two seasons.

Bedford will have his work cut out for him, but he has a proven track record of success. He is a talented coach who knows how to get the most out of his players.

If Bedford can turn around the Texas defense, it will be a major boost for the Longhorns' chances of competing for a Big 12 championship and a berth in the College Football Playoff.
