Italy Suffers Early Setback in Albania
Reigning European champions Spain cruised to a 3-0 victory over Croatia in their opening match of the 2024 UEFA European Championships. The match was played at London's Wembley Stadium on Saturday, June 15, 2024.
Spain Dominates Croatia
Spain controlled the pace of the game from the outset, creating several chances to score. In the 20th minute, Ferran Torres put Spain ahead with a left-footed shot from just inside the penalty area. Marco Asensio doubled Spain's lead in the 43rd minute with a header from a cross by Jordi Alba.
Spain continued to dominate in the second half and added a third goal in the 70th minute through substitute Pablo Sarabia. The goal was set up by a brilliant pass from Gavi.
Italy Struggles Against Albania
Italy, meanwhile, got off to a disappointing start in their Euro 2024 campaign, losing 1-0 to Albania in their opening match. The match was played at Rome's Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
Albania took the lead in shocking fashion after just 23 seconds. Myrto Uzuni scored with a left-footed shot from just outside the penalty area. Italy struggled to create chances throughout the match and failed to level the score.
Looking Ahead
Spain will face Italy in their next match on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. The match will be played at Wembley Stadium in London. Albania will face Croatia in their next match on the same day.
