Match Report: Borussia Dortmund Take 1-0 Lead to Paris in Champions League Semi-Final

Niclas Fullkrug's First-Half Goal Earns Advantage for German Club

Paris, France - May 5, 2024

Borussia Dortmund took a crucial 1-0 lead in their UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. Niclas Fullkrug's goal in the 28th minute proved to be the difference in a closely contested match at the Parc des Princes.

The visitors started brightly and took the lead when Fullkrug capitalized on a defensive error from Presnel Kimpembe. The German striker slotted the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma to put Dortmund in the driving seat.

PSG responded well to the setback and created several good chances to equalize, but they were unable to find a way past Gregor Kobel in the Dortmund goal. Kylian Mbappe, who is playing his last Champions League match for the French club, was denied on several occasions by the impressive Swiss goalkeeper.

The second leg will be played in Dortmund on May 10. PSG will need to score at least twice to progress to the final, while Dortmund will be looking to defend their slender advantage and reach the showpiece event for the first time since 2013.
