Jonny Evans Returns to Manchester United
Another Defensive Signing for Ten Hag
Manchester United have announced the signing of Jonny Evans on a one-year deal. The 35-year-old defender returns to Old Trafford after an eight-year absence. Evans has signed a one-year deal with the Red Devils and is expected to provide cover and experience to Erik ten Hag's squad.
Evans Returns to Familiar Surroundings
Evans originally joined Manchester United from Sunderland in 2007 and went on to make over 200 appearances for the club. He was part of the team that won the Premier League title in 2009 and the Champions League in 2008. Evans left United in 2015 to join West Bromwich Albion and, after a brief spell at Leicester City, he moved to Leicester City in 2020.
Evans' signing follows the arrival of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax and Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, as Ten Hag continues to reshape the Manchester United defense. The experienced defender is expected to play a mentoring role for the younger players in the squad.
