49ers Deebo Samuel News

49ers and Deebo Samuel Agree on Contract Extension

Samuel Earns Up to $73.5 Million Over Three Years

Aiyuk, Samuel Could Still Be Traded

The San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Deebo Samuel have agreed on a three-year contract extension worth up to $73.5 million, with $58.1 million guaranteed, as reported by NFL Network.

The 49ers also confirmed that Samuel avoided a fractured shoulder injury in the NFC Championship game, although his status for the Super Bowl remains uncertain. Samuel had injured the same shoulder earlier in the season.

Despite the new contract, the 49ers are still considering trading either Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk, according to sources. The 49ers have reportedly had conversations with teams, including one picking in the top 10, about a potential deal.

Samuel, 27, has emerged as a key player for the 49ers in recent seasons, with his unique skill set as a receiver and runner making him a valuable asset. In the 2023 season, Samuel caught 84 passes for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns, while also rushing for 596 yards and nine touchdowns.

The 49ers are hoping to keep both Samuel and Aiyuk long-term, but with the team facing salary cap constraints, a trade could become necessary. However, the new contract extension for Samuel indicates that the 49ers value his contributions and are committed to building around him.
